“BRINGING LIFE TO A PUPPET”
10-day Masterclass
In October of 2023 I had the pleasure to conduct a 10-day masterclass at Figurteatret i Nordland in Stamsund, Norway.
This course allowed me to guide the group of international artists through the cycle of design, sculpting,
wood-working, & organic paper-mache all with a focus on natural materials.
Alongside these practical exercises in the workshops we also spent time exploring how to bring life to simple materials, preparing us to connect with final puppets.

The participants, coming from various backgrounds such as sculpture, acting and dance,
all made stunning new characters.

Many puppets incorporated elements found in the surroundings which inspired us to make short films amongst in various locations. These were made quite spontaneously, in exchange of live-demonstrations with the new puppets, and the participants really enjoyed being able to capture the moment as film.
